Keynote Speaker Joellen Killon
NSDC Deputy Executive Director

Assessing Impact of Professional Learning

Joellen Killion will identify how educators from classroom teachers to superintendents share a part of the responsibility for knowing if professional learning produces its intended results. In an era of accountability, it is increasingly more important to ask and answer questions about the effectiveness of professional learning not only to assess its results, but also to make improvements.

Joellen Killion focuses her work with NSDC on improving professional learning for all educators. She has penned many books and articles on the topic of results-based staff development, and she has extensive experience in professional development planning, design, implementation, and evaluation both at the school and system level.

The creed Killion lives by is:
  • Excellence can be achieved if you...
  • Care more than others think is wise...
  • Risk more than others think is safe...
  • Dream more than others think is practical...
  • Expect more than others think is possible...
